BUYER GUIDE 01 · RATTAN LIGHTING

What to confirm before a pendant becomes an order.

A beautiful reference image is a beginning, not a production specification. Proportion, frame, weave, electrical direction and packing all change the result.

Start with the room and market

Before discussing diameter, explain where the pendant will be used. A restaurant cluster, hotel lobby and home-retail item can share a silhouette while needing very different scale, hanging height, visual weight and packing logic.

Share the destination market and whether the buyer expects a decorative shade only or a complete electrical set. This changes the questions that must be answered before quotation.

Confirm form, dimensions and frame

Record maximum diameter, total shade height, top and bottom openings, hanging point and any critical proportions. If several sizes form a family, identify which dimensions should scale together.

Frame questions

  • What material and finish should the internal frame use?
  • Where does the suspension connect and how should the product balance?
  • How should the shape resist deformation during packing and hanging?
  • Which dimensions need a written tolerance?

Describe the weave as a light effect

Weave density is not only decorative. It changes glare, shadow, visual weight and how much of the bulb or internal structure remains visible. Use close reference images and agree the acceptable color range and handmade variation.

Buyer decisionState whether the priority is dramatic shadow, softened light, a clean retail silhouette or natural handmade texture.

Separate shade construction from electrical direction

Share the destination, component scope, cable length, canopy style, lampholder direction and any testing expectation. These requirements must be confirmed for the specific market and project; a general website statement is not enough.

Develop packing with the product

Large shades can create high freight volume, while aggressive nesting can deform the frame or abrade the weave. Review nesting, pressure points, inner support, component separation, carton marks and the customer's unpacking method.

Minimum useful lighting RFQ

  1. Reference image or model.
  2. Target dimensions and intended space.
  3. Shade-only or electrical set direction.
  4. Destination market and required standards.
  5. Quantity by size or SKU.
  6. Finish, branding and packing direction.
  7. Requested delivery window.

Mark uncertain details as open. A supplier can propose options more responsibly when the fixed and flexible requirements are visible.
